Well lets check the mock portfolio to see exactly how well the companies I thought would do well and I would buy if I had means to do so and invest were performing for 2019. So year to date from January 2, 2019 thru December 31, 2019 here is how we did:
26% return on investment!!!!
Now ordinarily if you speak to any financial advisor or Hedge-fund Manager they are going to tell you that getting just a 9% return on your investment is a really big deal so 26% really stands out.
If you invested in the 30 stocks of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) you would be getting a 22% return on your investment. Yes the stock market had a stellar year.
What it means is that if you gave me $1.00 on January 1, 2019 and your average Investment Advisor $1.00 that as of the market close on December 31, 2019 and you asked for your money back I would be giving you $1.26 while the broker would be giving you $1.22 or less based on their choices.
So lets see how we did:
(Remember we own 2 shares of each stock)
1/2/2019 12/31/2019
Alibaba (Baba) $161.74 $212.25
Nvidia (Nvda) $156.25 $235.58
ResMed (Rmd) $108.46 $154.97
Amazon (Amzn) $1453.54 $1800.00
Alison Engines (Alsn) $42.90 $48.32
T Rowe Price (Trow) $106.45 $121.84
EVO Transport. (Evoa) $2.70 $3.00
Wash Real Estate (Wre) $27.80 $29.18
Nike (Nke) $78.18 $101.50
Unilever (Una-NL) $47.58 $51.23
Previous value: $4,371.20 New: $5,515.74 = 26%
Profit: $ 1144.54
Dow Jones $23,327.46 New: $28538.44 = 22%
*Remember we dumped IQ it just was not performing and added EVO Transportation. Watch for future article where I am going to show you the cost to purchase the stock (how much did we invest vs. how much true profit) then we are going to take out the profit and book a trip to Hawaii, Paris or Puerto Rico.
