Hurricane Michael ~ Need to stop and ponder that a moment my Ex's name was Michael and in end left as much destruction as a hurricane.

William this is a Financial Blog?  Why the heck are you talking about a hurricane?

Think about the effects of this hurricane on the financial markets at a time when the Dow is slipping and the IMF puts out a report that the world debt ratio may be to high and come crashing down, especially in the US, and then think about the stocks this hurricane will effect.

Home Depot, Exxon Mobil, BP, United, Southwest, Safeco, Geico, and Kroger what do all these stocks and many more have in common?  All effected by the current hurricane, the oil rigs need to be moved to avoid loss, supply chain of grocery store's loss of fresh produce and maybe even physical stores.  The insurance companies that need to cover these buildings and cars that are 100% complete loss; and Home Depot & Lowes who will benefit from people buying new materials to rebuild their homes.

With pressure already on an unstable market these factors can play a bigger part in the stock price than it would during similar storm events.  With the trade wars and IMF report stocks in China have taken a hard hit one of them in our portfolio BABA even though price is down I say hang in there.

Airlines needed to delay and cancel flights costing them a forward outlook in revenue, even retail stocks like Target or Walmart will be effected by loss over such a region.  This storm is so different as it is not expected to lose strength at it moves over Georgia.

What does that mean for you?  Many people feel this is the time that while these stocks in effect are going on sale they feel a moral imperative that they cannot try to profit off the pain of so many people in the pan handle and Georgia.  This is why when it comes to investing you must remove emotion from the equation.  You did not cause hurricane, you did not force these people to live there. While a tragedy, I hope no one is killed, we all knew before storm hit someone would be killed.  That does not mean you should not invest when timing is right if you were thinking of buying any one of these stocks.  It is part of the business cycle.

I am not recommending any of the stocks mentioned above as a buy.  The purpose of this article was to show how to profit off of a life event.

Just Another Boring Bank Stock? ~ Not Oregon Bancorp

I just happened too be browsing around looking for something; I can't remember what when I saw this little gem of  stock Oregon Bancorp (ORBN) now as we speak for $33.00 a share.  So I want to add it to our mock portfolio. It has so many things going for it which makes it a perfect little add.  First off it is a banking stock which we don't have.  Yes there is T.Rowe Price which is more of a brokerage financial institution, while Oregon Bancorp is a bank.  Selling at $33.00 a share it is easily affordable for you, me and the average investor to buy.  Oregon Bancorp is listed on the Over the Counter Pink Sheets.  In the old days on the New York stock exchange these shares did not sell all that often and were listed on actual pink sheets of paper that's why they are still called "Pink Sheets"    Oregon Bancorp just had a blowout quarter with their financials it seems the company is really doing things right.  I looked over several charts by them first looking at
